Services · Fractional CTO

A CTO who sits with your team while the agents ship.

For teams that need senior technical leadership on AI agent work, but not a full-time hire. Allan works alongside your engineers as fractional CTO and forward-deployed engineer, in the code and in the room, until the thing you are building is actually in production.

01

Who it is for

Teams that are putting AI agents into production, or trying to, and need someone senior to own the technical decisions without hiring a full-time CTO. Typically a startup or scale-up with engineers who can build but want a second, more experienced pair of hands on architecture, review and the parts of the system that are easy to get wrong the first time.

02

The problem

Agents in production fail differently from ordinary software.

An agent that can act, not just answer, introduces questions most teams have not had to answer before: what is it allowed to do, who approved that, what happens when it is wrong, and how do you prove afterwards what it did and why. Getting this right the first time is hard without someone who has already made the mistakes once. Getting it wrong shows up as an incident, not a code review comment.

03

What you get

HANDS ON

Working engineering time

Allan is in the codebase and in architecture and design decisions, not only advising from a slide deck. The work includes the parts that are unglamorous: review, tests, deployment pipelines, the boring plumbing that agent reliability depends on.

EXTRA CAPACITY

A delivery network when you need more hands

Where a piece of work needs more engineering capacity than one person, there is a small delivery network Allan draws on. Who specifically works on your engagement is agreed with you directly, not disclosed as a roster in advance.

OWNERSHIP

One accountable technical lead

A single point of accountability for the technical direction of the agent work, rather than decisions spread across a team with no one owning the outcome end to end.

04

How it starts

A short assessment, then a plan.

1

A short assessment. A focused look at what you are building, where the agents sit in your architecture, and what is already in place for identity, authorisation and audit. Short enough to run alongside your existing work.

2

A plan. A written view of the risks worth fixing first, the shape of the engagement that would address them, and what it would involve on your side. You decide whether to go ahead; nothing is assumed before then.

3

The engagement. Ongoing fractional time, scoped and reviewed regularly rather than fixed for a term you cannot change.
